Understanding Microbial Contamination

Tracing Sources for Safer Food

The mechanisms leading to microbial contamination are complex, with many possible sources at all stages of the food chain. Water may also be a potential source of contamination, particularly pre-harvest irrigation water or the water used to wash food products. Nevertheless, food contamination is an accidental occurrence, and it is always the result of a failure to maintain appropriate hygienic conditions throughout the production and preparation processes.

Ensuring Safe Food Chains

Mission Statement

Improving the Safety in the food chain from farm to fork in Cameroon is the core mission of FSAc. We contribute to protecting human life and health, taking account of national context and the challenges that exist from consumers to the producers. According to the WHO, more than 93 million people suffer from food borne diseases per year in African and among them one third are children. These numbers represent only registered cases, which the real number might be far higher. There is a huge misinformation of consumers who do not always know their rights and not aware of food safety measures.

We deliver independent and transparent scientific & Practical advices to policy makers, through cooperation with our Experts on site in Cameroon and from the Diaspora we share the insights and solutions in an open dialogue with society through campaigns.
